HAMPTON, NJ - At approximately 10:38 a.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 the Hampton Fire Co. (Sta.13), along with Hampton EMS (Sta.13) and North County EMS Partnership (Sta.27) were dispatched to an apartment complex for a report of something burning in a kitchen.
Fire Chief 13 arrived within minutes and found a two story apartment building with smoke coming from the eaves and heavy smoke in a stairwell leading to the second floor apartment. Fire Chief 13 requested a second alarm assignment.
Shortly there after Engine 1364 arrived on scene, the crew stretched two lines and made entry into the apartment. The crew was met with thick black smoke, but was able to find the source which was a burning stove with extension to the walls and cabinet above.
The fire was extinguished and all damages were contained to that single apartment. One person was home at the time and had run outside prior to fire company arrival.
All units were clear within an hour and a half. Fire crews from Hampton, Glen Garnder, High Bridge, Lebanon Township, Town of Clinton and Washington, along with Clinton EMS and High Bridge Rescue, responded to the scene.
